Yuschenko hoping Our Ukraine's MPs supporting coalition with BYT, Lytvyn Bloc will be expelled from party, faction list
Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko hopes that MPs who supported the coalition with the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko and the Bloc of Lytvyn will be expelled from the Our Ukraine People's Union party and from their faction list.
He said this in an interview with the Den, Ukraina Moloda and Facts and Comments newspapers, the presidential press service reported on Wednesday.
Yuschenko reminded that the party congress recognized it impossible to restore the coalition with the BYT and said that the MPs who supported this coalition will be expelled from the party and from the party's list of MPs at the decision of the congress.
"This week we are holding the second round of the congress, and I am confident that the congress will decide on how to expel these people from the party and from MPs list," the president said.
"This is a positive process, a process of purification. I have long waited that our people decide on their political choice, on their place in the party. They have made their choice, and I respect it," Yuschenko added.
The president stressed that the majority made up of the factions of Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko, Our Ukraine - People's Self-Defense and the Bloc of Lytvyn hasn't been legally registered. Besides, the president said that this so-called coalition was a result of political corruption.
