Poroshenko signs law on foreign broadcasting meant to repel aggressor's propaganda

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed a law of Ukraine No. 856-VIII "On the broadcasting system in Ukraine", a president's press service reported on Monday.

"Today, in time of hybrid war this, is an issue of state's survival, issue of efficient repelling of propaganda work carried against our country by the propagandists of aggressor country, which spends dozens and hundreds of millions," a press service quotes Poroshenko as saying.

According to the president, the main criterion for foreign broadcasting must be impartiality when covering information on the situation in Ukraine, introduction of the reforms, and defense policy of state.

"This should be the criterion of efficient information policy. We shouldn't copy propaganda methods of the aggressor state. On the contrary, our journalists should tell the truth about the war in Ukraine and win trust this way in contrast to the propagandists," the president stressed.

Moreover, the president stressed a necessity to restore Ukrainian broadcasting in the liberated regions of Donbas, covering of the true information on the situation on the occupied territories, and building of the respective information network based on this.
