Dmytro Yarosh, former leader of Right Sector, who stepped down in the beginning of November, has announced the withdrawal of his team from the organization and said that he intends to create a new political movement.

"My team and I are leaving the national liberation movement Right Sector. We are starting a new political movement with a founding congress set for February. Currently, we are working on the development of the movement, its concept, program principles," said Yarosh in a statement published on the website of the Right Sector on Monday.

Yarosh also spoke about the prospects of the Ukrainian Volunteer Corps (UVC), which, according to Yarosh, defended Pisky, Donetsk airport, Shyrokyne, Savur-Mohyla, and created the medical battalion Hospitaliers, saying that "it should grow and develop further, move to a new level". "That is why the fifth and eights battalions of the UVC along with the medical battalion Hospitaliers are reorganized into the Ukrainian Volunteer Army. It will constitute one of the structures of the new movement that is being created," Yarosh said.

He said that he believed the Right Sector had accomplished its mission. "Now is the time to focus on the development of the state. Our movement has grown, strengthened, and is moving to a new stage of its development. Now we want to be not just a niche movement, but rather a national patriotic one in order to unite all patriots of Ukraine […] The formation of the UIUS (Ukrainian Independent Unified State) still remains our goal. Our task is two-fold, namely to retain the existing state as a base for achieving national statehood and changing the state by revolutionary means, which will ensure fairness and well-being for the Ukrainian people," Yarosh said.

"As before, we don't reject a revolutionary path, however, we vehemently deny pseudo-revolutionary activity that threatens the existence of Ukraine and taints reputation of its patriots. We oppose the existing authorities, however, we don't find bloody mutinies against it, which are destined to fail, to be expedient," he added.

Yarosh said that "all patriots of Ukraine, who share our values" can join the new movement, first of all, referring to members and supporters of Right Sector.

In the beginning of November, Yarosh announced that he was standing down as leader of Right Sector while remaining "a nationalist, a statesman, and a revolutionary."
