Kyiv records 35 cases of militants firing on Ukrainian positions over past 24 hrs

Militants have fired on the positions of Ukrainian forces in Donbas 35 times over the past 24 hours, the press center of Ukraine's anti-terrorist operation (ATO) headquarters reported early on Monday on its Facebook page.

Donbas militants conducted precision fire on Ukrainian positions in the village of Shyrokyne, using heavy machine guns and grenade launchers, according to Kyiv. In the Donetsk-Horlivka segment of the demarcation line, militants, in particular, one sniper, opened fire targeting one of the Ukrainian forces' strongholds east of Novoselivka. Later a small group of militants "attempted to check the Ukrainian defenders' vigilance and integrity of defense" not far from Novoselivka Druha. There might be casualties among the attackers, the press center said.

Also, on several occasions militants opened fire at random, using small arms, grenade launchers and heavy machine guns near Pisky, Avdiyivka, Novhorodske and Troyitske, it added.

The Ukrainian side recorded no single episode of 'full silence' violation after midnight.
