President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has said that the current EU sanctions against Russia are productive.

"The sanctions are productive, and they help us to hold Russia at the negotiating table," the president said while delivering a speech at Leiden University (the Netherlands) on Friday.

According to him, "softening" European policy against Russia won't appease the Kremlin.
