Poroshenko signs law approving admission of U.S., Canadian soldiers for exercises in Ukraine in Nov-Dec

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed law No. 786-VIII on permitting soldiers of other nations to enter the territory of Ukraine for participation in multinational exercises in November-December this year, the presidential press service has reported.

According to a presidential decree of November 6, units of the U.S. Armed Forces, other NATO countries, and states participating in the "Partnership for Peace" program are permitted to enter the territory of Ukraine for a period of up to 61 days to participate in multinational exercises in November-December 2015.

Some 5,300 soldiers are expected to participate in the exercises, including up to 2,800 from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 1,500 from the United States military, and up to 1,000 from the armed forces of NATO member countries and states participating in the "Partnership for Peace" program.

Some 350 American and 100 Canadian soldiers will take part in exercises at the Yavoriv training ground on a rotational basis.

The law comes into force on the day of its publication.
