Ukraine tightens control at border checkpoints

The State Border Service of Ukraine has tightened control at the checkpoints along the border following the terrorist attacks in Paris, the press service of the department told Interfax-Ukraine.

"The State Border Service has strengthened control at checkpoints. Special attention is paid to citizens of the countries of the risk area. The number of border patrol units has been increased," the spokesman for the State Border Service, Oleh Slobodian, told agency.

In addition, aviation experts told Interfax-Ukraine that security at Ukrainian airports may be increased, in particular the security checks of baggage at the entrance to the airport (increasing sensitivity of scanners).

Meanwhile, Ukraine's main airport Boryspil raised the level of security control to the so-called "yellow alert" back in the summer of 2014 in connection with the events in Ukraine's east.

As reported, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on Saturday morning held a meeting with security officials and gave instructions to tighten security measures across the country in connection with terrorist attacks in Paris.
