Process of freeing hostages unlocked, Kyiv expects release of about 10 Ukrainian hostages by end of this week - Heraschenko

Upon the results of the work of the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk its members managed to unblock the process of freeing hostages and the Ukrainian side is conducting an operation to release up to 10 Ukrainian hostages before the end of this week, Ukrainian representative in this subgroup, lawmaker Irina Heraschenko said.

"These are the results of the humanitarian subgroup in brief. The president is keeping under personal control the issue of releasing hostages. Today the process has been unblocked and until the end of this week - hurrah - we are conducting an operation to free around 10 Ukrainian heroes. The agreements were attained thanks to hard talks in Minsk by our subgroup in cooperation with the interdepartmental center at the Ukrainian Security Council," Heraschenko wrote on her Facebook page on Tuesday.

She also said that the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) had positively taken the information about the opening of a pedestrian checkpoint in Stanytsia Luhanska.

"This is very important for ordinary people. Other groups have also worked well today, we have concrete results," she said.
