Lysychansk town hall election ruled null and void – media

KYIV. Oct 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The local election commission of the town of Lysychansk in Luhansk region has ruled town hall elections held this Sunday null and void, according to Podrobnosti online portal with reference to head of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc Solidarnist headquarters' legal department Serhiy Alekseyev.

"The local election commission held a meeting where it decided to rule the elections null and void," Alekseyev said.

In his words, the cause behind the decision is a large number of mistakes in the names of the parties mentioned in ballot papers, as "10-12 parties were spelled in the wrong way."

Thus, Lysychansk became a fourth town after the city of Mariupol and the towns of Krasnoarmiysk and Svatove, where the October 25 local elections failed and new elections there will be appointed.

Interfax-Ukraine has not got any confirmation about the cancellation of the Lysychansk town hall elections from other sources. At the same time, the online broadcasting of a meeting of Lysychansk town election commission showed how members of the commission were accepting protocols from polling stations' election commissions.
