Upcoming local elections to take place without exit polling

Director of the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation Iryna Bekeshkina has said that her foundation won't conduct exit polling of the upcoming local elections on October 25.

"Why? It is clear that money is needed to carry out exit polls even at the local elections. We have no [money] foreseen for such kind of the projects," Bekeshkina said at a press conference on Friday.

She said that not a single sociological firm had applied to conduct an exit poll. Usually, sociological firms announce their intention to hold exit polls a week or at least five days before an election.

However, she didn't rule out the possibility that some organizations may conduct exit polls without proper qualification.

She said that if an organization conducts an exit poll on election day then journalists must find out what kind of organization it is, what experience it has of exit polling, and find out if the company employs professional sociologists.
