Russia has not responded to the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine (PGO) for the extradition of former president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, chief of the PGO special investigations directorate Serhiy Horbatiuk has said.

"There is no reply from Russian law enforcement agencies on the decision to arrest and extradite Yanukovych since a year despite our reminding them," he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.

According to Horbatiuk, the Russian authorities have refused to confirm that Yanukovych is present in the country, despite the fact that lawyers representing Yanukovych had given the Ukrainian authorities the address of Yanukovych’s residence in Russia, which was subsequently provided to Russian law enforcers.

"We sent this information to Russian law enforcement agencies for them to confirm it and detain Yanukovych. However, over two months there was no information from Russia law enforcement agencies," he said.
