U.S. Senate passes bill allowing military assistance to Ukraine – ambassador

On Wednesday, the U.S. Senate approved the draft National Defense Authorization Act for the 2016 Fiscal Year which will grant military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of $300 million within a year.

"On October 7, the U.S. Senate passed the draft National Defense Authorization Act For Fiscal Year 2016, the document that may be made available to the Secretary of Defense, in coordination with the Secretary of State, to provide appropriate security assistance and intelligence support, including training, equipment, and logistics support, supplies and services, to military and other security forces of the Government of Ukraine in an amount of $300 million within 2016 financial year," Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Valeriy Chaly wrote on Facebook.

He added that the bill will come into force after U.S. President Barack Obama signs it.

"I hope for a positive decision," Chaly said.
