Rada strips Radical Party activist Mosiychuk of parliamentary immunity, authorizes his arrest

Ukrainian Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin asked the Verkhovna Rada on Thursday to strip Ihor Mosiychuk, a member of the Radical Party faction, of parliamentary immunity following a statement on the commission of crimes made by a Ukrainian parliamentarian, and the parliament granted that request.

"I am asking the parliamentarians to urgently give its authorization in this hall for the prosecution, detention and arrest of parliamentarian Mosiychuk," he said in the parliament.

After that, Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Groysman put the issue of including this issue in the agenda up for voting. The parliamentarians voted to include the issue in the agenda.

A total of 262 parliamentarians voted for the decision, an Interfax correspondent has reported.

Groysman said he will sign this decision made by the parliament in the nearest future.
