PGO: 16 persons suspected of involvement in August 31 clashes outside Rada arrested, two under house arrest

A court in Kyiv has ruled to place into custody 16 detainees suspected of involvement in riots near the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on August 31 for 60 days without the possibility of bail, and two more have been placed under house arrest.

"Pechersky District Court of Kyiv, having considered a petition of the Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv, has chosen a measure of restraint for the 18 people detained in connection with the events near the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Of them, sixteen suspects including the main defendant in the criminal proceedings were chosen a preventive measure in the form of a detention for a period of 60 days without the right to bail. Two more detainees will be under house arrest around the clock," press service of the Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv said in a report which was posted on the website of the General Prosecutor's Office on Thursday.
