Poroshenko offers to hold meeting of leaders of neighboring states to discuss security

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has offered his Slovak counterpart Andrej Kiska to hold in the near future a meeting of the leaders of Ukraine's neighboring countries to address the security aspects of regional cooperation.

Poroshenko made the proposal during a telephone conversation with Kiska on Thursday, the Ukrainian president's press service reported on Thursday.

The proposed meeting should address cooperation in the fight against corruption, functioning of joint customs and border control agencies, and identify promising projects in cross-border cooperation.

The two presidents agreed to intensify cooperation under the Ukraine + Visegrad Group format.

Poroshenko thanked Kiska for Slovakia's support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and for the support of Ukrainian citizens Oleh Sentsov and Nadia Savchenko, who are illegally imprisoned in Russia.

In addition, both leaders discussed the latest developments in Donbas.
