The Ukrainian government has specified that tariffs for water supply and sewage treatment services will be set, taking into account the specifics of providing the services by water and sewage treatment companies in the regions of the country.

The Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Economy Ministry said, with the reference to the press service of Deputy Prime Minister and Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Economy Minister Hennadiy Zubko, that the cabinet resolution was passed at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

"Today we approved the resolution at the cabinet meeting which terminates the application of the single tariff for water supply and sewage treatment," Zubko said.

He said that revoking the single tariff formation would ensure that expenses on water supply and sewage treatment are fairly distributed between consumers, while water supply companies in small towns would form separate tariffs for these services.

"Today's decision is evidence that the government is moving in the decentralization system of axes, giving as much as possible powers and tools to local authorities," Zubko said.
