OSCE SMM monitors staying in shelled neighborhood of Mariupol, promise to announce conclusions on Tuesday Tuesday

Monitors of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) are still staying in the shelled neighborhood of Mariupol, in the settlement of Sartana, OSCE SMM Deputy Chief Monitor Alexander Hug told Interfax.

The OSCE SMM monitors came at 10.50 a.m. on Monday to Sartana to gather information about the incident, the monitors are still staying there, Hug told Interfax on Monday. The results of the inspection will be announced in an OSCE SMM daily report on Tuesday, he said.

He said later that most of the shell holes examined by the monitors had formed as a result of the blasts by 120mm projectiles.

"At the present moment the OSCE SMM has noticed 11 holes, mostly from 120mm projectiles and 25 damaged houses. Several civilians were also wounded," Hug said.

It was earlier reported that the Mariupol neighborhoods had been shelled by heavy artillery weapons at around 10 p.m. on Sunday. As a result of the shelling of the settlement of Sartana, which is situated near the eastern outskirt of Mariupol, two civilians were killed and another six were wounded.

Around 50 houses were damaged. Two buildings were destroyed completely.
