Three Ukrainian soldiers die in ATO zone over last 24 hours, seven injured – Turchynov

Three Ukrainian soldiers participating in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) died over the last 24 hours and seven were injured, National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov has said.

"Within the last 24 hours, Russian terrorist groups shelled Ukrainian positions 109 times, three Ukrainian soldiers died, seven sustained injuries," the NSDC press service quoted Turchynov as saying.

According to him, Ukrainian military positions were attacked with large-caliber artillery and mortars, mostly located in the residential districts of occupied cities in Donbas.

Turchynov said that Russia has once again used civilians as human shields to cover its war crimes, a tactic often used in Crimea and Donbas.

"Everyday, military provocations and crimes in the east of our country show that the withdrawal of tanks and weaponry of less than 100 mm [in caliber] is the attempt of the enemy to create favorable conditions for Russian terrorist groups to attack, " Turchynov said, adding that Russia's actions were evidence of Moscow's sabotage of the Minsk accords.

According to him, commanders of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are analyzing possible directions of attacks and are preparing countermeasures.
