Members of the working subgroups of the Trilateral Contact Group for settling the conflict in eastern Ukraine have finished their work at a meeting in Minsk, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry reports.

"The meetings of the working groups on settling the conflict in Ukraine have finished in Minsk," the ministry said via its official Twitter account on Monday.

The negotiations were closed to the press, it said.

Earlier in the day, the working subgroups' coordinators had also met in Minsk. A meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group itself is scheduled for the second part of Monday.

The participants in the negotiating process had proposed earlier that the Contact Group's work be extended by one day, and a final decision on the matter should be made at the Monday meeting.

"The proposal on extending the Contact Group's work to August 4 came from one of the parties. The Contact Group will make a final decision right at the meeting in Minsk on Monday. If the Contact Group sees that the entire agenda cannot be covered in one day, the Group's work could possibly be extended to the next day," a source with the group organizing the negotiations told Interfax.
