Kremlin not trusting Litvinenko death proceedings in UK – Peskov

The Kremlin is skeptical about the British side's claims alleging the Russian authorities' involvement in the murder of Alexander Litvinenko and does not trust the proceedings in the case under way in the United Kingdom, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said.

"If you remember, when Litvinenko died, similar accusations were immediately voiced out loud even without conducting an investigation both by UK officials and the agencies that were yet to launch such an investigation. That is why we have already heard all this," Peskov said, after being asked by journalists to comment on the appropriate claims made by the UK authorities.

"Apparently, something should be added in order to be able to view such words as convincing," he said.

Peskov gave a negative answer to the question whether or not Kremlin trusts these proceedings.

"This is not our agenda. It is an internal investigation of the United Kingdom. For this reason, we have nothing to do with it and would not want to," Peskov added.
