Turchynov inspects ATO zone checkpoint using electronic pass system

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Oleksandr Turchynov, together with senior officials of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Anti-Terrorist Center, the State Border Guard Service and the Interior Ministry inspected a check-point in the town of Zaytseve (Donetsk region) in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) zone where a new electronic pass system is being tested.

"The new system of pass control in the ATO zone is to limit the time needed and improve the checks, as well as to overcome corruption in issuing passes and eliminate lines at checkpoints," the NSDC press service quoted Turchynov as saying.

He confirmed that all the checkpoints in the ATO zone will switch to the electronic system by July 7.

According to the changes, applications for passes are applied for and checked electronically, and citizens that pass the check can cross through checkpoints by showing their Ukrainian passport.
