Infrastructure ministry still hopes to sign Open Skies agreement with EU by late 2015

Infrastructure Minister of Ukraine Andriy Pyvovarsky has expressed his hope that despite the problems with the signing of the Open Skies agreement with the European Union, the document will be signed by the end of this year, he said at a meeting in the ministry in Kyiv on Thursday.

He said that the ministry continues to do its best to liberalize Ukrainian airspace.

The minister said that the Open Skies principle has been applied in the airports of Lviv and Odesa.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said that it is important to sign the Open Skies agreement between Ukraine and the EU as soon as possible.

"The early signing of the agreement on general airspace in 2015 remains the key priority of cooperation in the transport-related sphere and we have defined reporting points that will speed up this process," Poroshenko said.
