No need for early elections to Rada after constitutional amendments are passed - Poroshenko

It is not necessary to hold early elections to the parliament over amendments to the Constitution on decentralization, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said.

"As to the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada, I do not think that this foresees considerable reorganization in regard to decentralizational impact on the authorities of the Verkhovna Rada because the authorities of the Verkhovna Rada either almost do not change or do not change at all. Due to this I do not see the necessity to organize early elections to the Verkhovna Rada over the passing of amendments to the Constitution on decentralization," Poroshenko said in Kyiv on Wednesday while presenting draft a law on constitutional amendments.

The Verkhovna Rada should decide on the necessity of holding new elections to local councils after the Constitution is amended, the president said.
