European Parliament to help Rada cope with technical lawmaking issues

A delegation of the European Parliament, led by President Martin Schulz and Chairman of the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee Andrej Plenkovic, will visit Ukraine at the end of this week.

"We will sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the EP and the Verkhovna Rada," he said in Brussels on Tuesday.

According to Plenkovic, the aforementioned memorandum is designed to strengthen not just political but also technical cooperation between the parties.

"Ukraine is in an extremely complicated situation," the diplomat said, mentioning the illegal annexation of Crimea and the aggressive actions of Russia in Donbas.

Talking about the details of the memo's content, Plenkovic said that both sides want to thoroughly study the work of the committees of the Ukrainian parliament and their cooperation while passing laws, as well as cooperation with the Ukrainian government.
