Poroshenko won't change draft constitution provisions on special self-government procedure in Donbas

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko intends to submit to parliament draft amendments to the Constitution without changing the clause on the transitional provisions regarding the special procedure of local government in some areas of Donbas, which was proposed by the Constitutional Commission and supported by the Venice Commission.

"And if it is written there, because the presidential administration hasn't received the final version yet, there will be no adjustments on my part. And I will submit the draft amendments to the Constitution to the Verkhovna Rada in that wording," he said in an interview with Inter TV channel on Friday night.

The president noted that the Venice Commission supported the initiative of the constitutional commission.

Poroshenko said that the Constitutional Commission offered to stipulate in the transitional provisions that the law on the special procedure of local government in some areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions will be effective.
