Consultations in the format Russia-Europe-Ukraine on gas issues should continue, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said, adding that Russia will maintain its status as a reliable supplier of gas to Europe.

"In resolving this issue [the price of gas for Ukraine] we must take into account our own national interests and the position of our European partners. Implementing the agreement on gas supplies to Ukraine is the guarantee of stable gas transit to Europe. We value our reputation as a reliable gas supplier," Medvedev said at a meeting with Energy Minister Alexander Novak and Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller.

The trilateral dialog in the format Russia-EU-Ukraine must continue in light of preparations for the fall-winter period.
