Ukrainian economy minister praises Saakashvili's expected appointment as Odesa governor

Ukrainian Economic Development and Trade Minister Aivaras Abromavicius praises the reported decision on former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili's possible appointment as head of the Odesa regional administration.

"Only radical decisions can help achieving the goal. The president has acted wisely. We should support him. Ordinary measures don't work. Time is running out. Saakashvili is a radical and can really clean up everything, and very quickly, too," Abromavicius said on Twitter on Saturday.

Saakashvili is an adviser to the Ukrainian president and head of the Advisory International Reform Council.

It was reported on Friday evening that the Ukrainian Cabinet of ministers had officially given a recommendation to President Petro Poroshenko on appointing Saakashvili as head of the Odesa regional administration.

The Odesa regional administration confirmed Saakashvili's upcoming appointment as the administration head. "I confirm the introduction of a new governor at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow [on Saturday]. Yes, it is Saakashvili," Odesa regional administration press secretary Mykola Pokrovsky said on Facebook late on Friday.
