Yatseniuk sees demonopolization of energy sector as task of new head of competition agency

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has said that one of the key tasks of the new head of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine is demonopolization of the energy sector.

"What are the key tasks I would like you [Yuriy Terentyev] as the head of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine to set? First, this concerns monopoly collusions and uncompetitive actions on the energy market. Regional gas supply companies that actually and legally abuse monopoly on the market, electricity generating and supply companies which also abuse monopoly on the market, according to some expert conclusions. Demonopolization of the state energy sector: both for gas, electricity, oil and fuel. This should be one of the tasks of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, and this would give a chance to people to receive cheaper service with the better quality," Yatseniuk said, presenting the new head of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine.

As reported, earlier acting head of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine Mykola Barash said that he did not see DTEK's monopoly on the electricity market.
