Poroshenko, Kerry coordinate Donbas de-escalation efforts on phone

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry have discussed on the phone de-escalation efforts to be continued in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

"The interlocutors coordinated further moves towards de-escalation in Donbas and spoke about steps to be taken by the sides for the complete implementation of the Minsk agreements," says a report posted on the Ukrainian president's website.

In addition, Kerry informed Poroshenko about the negotiations he had held in Russia.

Kerry visited Sochi on May 12 and conversed with Russian President Vladimir Putin for more than 2.5 hours. He also negotiated with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Kerry and Lavrov gave a joint press conference after their meeting.

The negotiations highlighted bilateral relations between the United States and Russia, the situation in Donbas and Syria, and issues related to the Iranian nuclear program.
