Poroshenko: Ukroboronprom's strategic task is to enter top five global arms exporters

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has set a task of boosting the export potential of the Ukrainian defense industry to Ukroboronprom State Concern and entering the top five global modern arms exporters.

During a visit of the Ukrainian Ground Forces Training Center Desna in Chernihiv region on Monday the head of state said that now Ukraine's export potential has sharply grown. He threw away the accusations of critics that the country is selling weapons abroad.

"We should confirm the high level of Ukrainian arms in the world and it is not absolutely harassing to me that Ukroboronprom has entered the top ten arms exporters. The strategic task is to enter the top five arms exporters," Poroshenko said.

He emphasized the sale of modern arms, not old arms from warehouses that were sold for bribes abroad.

"And today we're looking for our Buk [missile systems], our missiles," he said.

"Ukroboronprom is to stress that exporters sell only arms made by our Ukrainian defense enterprises now to increase the loading of our defense industry flagship companies," Poroshenko said.
