Ukrainians to be evacuated from Nepal on May 3 – Foreign Ministry

Ukraine's Foreign Ministry has announced that the evacuation of Ukrainian nationals from Nepal to their homeland by an aircraft of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry is scheduled for May 3.

Ukrainians, who are not in the main camp, in Nepal, are expected to gather at 14.00 local time near the residence of the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Nepal at the Honorary Consulate of Ukraine in Kathmandu at House No. 122, Bhagwan Marg, Narayan Chour, Naxal, Kathmandu. A hotline number for Ukrainians in Nepal is 9779813057540, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported on its website on Saturday.

The number of Ukrainians staying in Nepal as of 20.00 on May 1 is reportedly 210, Foreign Ministry said. No fatalities among the Ukrainians in Nepal have been reported. However, the ministry has been unable to establish contact with 46 Ukrainians so far.

As reported, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Il-76 airplane meant to evacuate Ukrainian citizens from Nepal arriver in Delhi, where it is currently undergoing repairs.

Acting Head of the State Service on Emergencies of Ukraine Zorian Shkiriak said that some Ukrainians will depart from Nepal on charter aircraft to India, from where they will then fly to Ukraine.
