Two Ukrainian soldiers were killed and another two suffered injuries in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) zone in the southeast in the past 24 hours, spokesman for the ATO operation Andriy Lysenko said.

"We lost two servicemen in the provocations staged in the past day, and another two servicemen were injured," he said at a press briefing in Kyiv on Friday.

Militants shelled the Ukrainian army positions more than ten times, Lysenko said. "The situation in the ATO zone was troubled but controllable in the past day," he said.

According to Lysenko, militants continue to use armament systems prohibited by the Minsk agreements. "There have been 15 attacks by use of 122mm mortars, five by cannons and three by tanks on our positions," he said.

Shyrokyne and Chermalyk remain the hottest spots in the Mariupol sector, Lysenko added.

He said that attacks on Ukrainian positions continued in the Donetsk airport area, and a sniper was firing on Ukrainian servicemen on the outskirts of Horlivka. The town of Shchastya was attacked in Luhansk region, Lysenko said.

The Border Service reported six flights of unmanned aerial vehicles in the past 24 hours.

Over 240 strongholds will be built across Donetsk region by specialists from various regions of Ukraine, Lysenko said in conclusion.
