Ukraine will continue supporting the settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine through negotiation, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said.

"Ukraine is convinced that there is no alternative to the diplomatic settlement of the situation in Donbas and will take maximum efforts in this direction, including full and unconditional observance of the Minsk agreements," Poroshenko told a Ukraine-EU summit in Kyiv on Monday.

Poroshenko said the crisis can be resolved on condition of "full and irreversible return by Russia to the framework of international law."
