EC to issue report on Ukraine's implementation of EU visa liberalization action plan in early May – Klimkin

The European Commission (EC) has finished its assessment of Ukraine's efforts towards meeting the requirements of the second phase of the action plan on visa liberalization with the EU and will issue a corresponding report at the beginning of May, Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has said.

"The European Commission has finished the assessment of our state's implementation of the criteria of the second phase. We'll see the report at the beginning of May," he said during a parliamentary hearing.

Klimkin said that the security of the state border, migration, freedom of movement, law enforcement cooperation, observance of human rights and battling against discrimination were the main issues brought up during the visa-free dialogue with the EU.

He also said that despite the challenges faced by the State Border Guard Service due to the situation in eastern Ukraine, the agency was assessed highly by the European Commission.

He added that the EU is afraid of additional migration pressure due to the situation in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, and that Ukraine must prove it can provide enough help to internally displace persons.
