Justice Minister hopes Rada will adopt law banning communist ideology

Justice Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Petrenko hopes that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will adopt a law banning communist ideology while the trial on banning the Communist Party of Ukraine continues.

"Everything that the judges of Kyiv District Administrative Court are doing right now is connivance to communists' procedural terrorism. Because they [communists] file faulty complaints, the court sends them to the [court of] appeals, which sends them back. Their [communists'] goal is to delay the process until the local elections. They hope they might have a political future in the country," Petrenko said on First National TV channel.

However, Petrenko said he is certain that this won't happen.

He said another way to ban the Communist Party is to adopt an appropriate law.

"Government, experts and MPs developed a number of laws, one of which foresees a ban of communist and Nazi ideologies," Petrenko said.

However, Petrenko said that the legislative process doesn't exclude the continuation of the trial. According to him, both processes will happen concurrently.

"We'll see this trial to the end," he added.
