Investigation into Maidan events in 2014 inefficient – CoE observers

Lack of coordination among the law enforcement agencies of Ukraine has led to an insufficient investigation into the Maidan events, Head of the international advisory group of the Council of Europe on overseeing the investigation into violence during the protests in Kyiv, which lasted through November 2013 – February 2014, Nicolas Bratza has said.

The efficiency of the investigation depends on tight cooperation between the investigative agencies. The lack of such cooperation between the Prosecutor General's Office and other agencies very seriously affected the investigation's efficiency, he said when presenting the group's report at a press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday.

As reported, the expert group was created at the initiative of Secretary-General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland after reports of violence perpetrated against those protesting on Maidan in Kyiv.
