The Justice Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Petrenko has instructed the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) to verify information about the election of Communist Party leader Petro Symonenko to the presidium of the Russian Communist Party's plenum.

The ministry has also demanded that an additional inquiry be launched into the involvement of Symonenko in criminal offences regarding the financing of terrorism, support of the 'DPR'/'LPR' (Donetsk People's Republic/Luhansk People's Republic) terrorist organizations, recognition of Crimea's annexation, and actions aimed at overthrow of the constitutional regime and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
