Ukrainians still running high risk of contracting flu, respiratory infections, says first-vice premier
There is still high risk of contracting flu and other respiratory infections in Ukraine, First Vice Primer Oleksandr Turchynov has said, referring to the results of a meeting of the state extraordinary anti-epidemic commission
"The highest level of epidemic risk hasn't disappeared in Ukraine. We cannot relax, given the forecasts of our experts and the World Health Organization that there could be several other waves of the epidemic, and we should be ready for this," Turchynov said at a briefing following the commission's meeting on Friday.
He also said that the commission has decided to empower regional commissions with imposing or canceling quarantines in higher educational establishments. Such decisions should be passed taking into account the opinions of regional sanitary officers, Turchynov added.
