President signs law on military-civil administrations

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has signed the law "On military-civil administrations" on Thursday, according to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine website's.

The law on creating military-civil administration in Luhansk and Donetsk regions was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on February 3.

The law foresees the creation and oversight of the activities of military-civil administrations as temporary state agencies that will act as part of the anti-terrorist center, under the Security Service of Ukraine. The administrations are to be created to ensure that Ukraine's Constitution and laws are observed, to ensure security, normal lives and rule of law, prevent sabotage, terrorist attacks and humanitarian catastrophes in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) zone.

According to the law, military-civil administrations will be created if needed by the order of the President of Ukraine.

The law will be in effect for a year starting from when the law is published, but it's validity can be prolonged by a presidential order, confirmed by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

The law also foresees its annulment in case of martial law or a state of war in Ukraine
