Over 90 Ukrainian military servicemen have been captured in the Debaltseve area and the whereabouts of 82 others has yet to be determined, the Ukrainian armed forces' General Staff reported on Thursday.

"Engaging in uneven confrontation with the enemy forces at one of the frontline sections of the Debaltseve foothold, over 90 servicemen of the Ukrainian armed forces were captured. The General Staff is also searching for 82 soldiers whose whereabouts is unknown at the moment," the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said in a statement available on its website

"Certain forces" are involved in the search for the missing soldiers. Moreover, the General Command has asked representatives of the OSCE SMM, members of the Joint Center for Control over the Demarcation Line and other governmental and non-governmental organizations for assistance.

"Today, not being able to announce their military success in the battles against Ukrainian Armed Forces, militants are resorting to another provocation – [they are] demonstrating Ukrainian servicemen, who were captured by the enemy during battles. [Fighting] the information war, the enemy significantly overstates the number of deceased and captured Ukrainian soldiers," reads the Defense Ministry's statement.

According to the General Command, while leaving Debaltseve Ukrainian troops arrested several dozens of militants who are currently providing statements on their illegal activities as part of terrorist formations.
