Crimea, Sevastopol lawmakers to be punished, their property in Ukraine to be expropriated - draft parliament resolution

MP Anton Heraschenko (the People's Front faction) has registered a draft parliament resolution on an address by the Ukrainian parliament to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine on punishing Crimea and Sevastopol City Council lawmakers.

According to the draft resolution, it is proposed that proceedings be launched against lawmakers of Crimea and Sevastopol City Council who cast votes in favor of holding the illegal Crimean referendum.

"Due to the impudent annexation of Crimea by Russia and due to the relevant resolutions of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol City Council on holding the so-called general Crimean referendum, it is urgently required that the Ukrainian parliament, Prosecutor General's Office make quick and efficient steps aimed at protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our homeland," reads an explanatory note to the document.

The lawmaker said that the practical tool for doing this is punishing local self-government officials for compromising Ukraine's territorial integrity.

According to the document, the practical realization of the resolution will promote the punishment of local government officials who helped Russian annex Crimea and Sevastopol city, and the expropriation of their property in Ukraine.
