Poroshenko, Tusk coordinate positions in view of Foreign Affairs Council sitting

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko spoke with European Council President Donald Tusk on the phone on Monday night, the presidential press service reported.

"Petro Poroshenko told Donald Tusk about the events happening in Donbas after the terror attack in Mariupol. He thanked the European Council President for his strong support for Ukraine and his call for a EU tough position to the country-aggressor," the report said.

The sides coordinated their positions in view of the January 29 sitting of the Foreign Affairs Council.

"The Ukrainian President also informed the European Council President about the progress made by Ukraine in the second stage of the visa liberalization action plan and urged the European Union to make a political decision and approve a visa-free travel regime for Ukrainian citizens visiting Schengen countries at the May summit of the Eastern Partnership in Riga," the report underlined.

In addition, Poroshenko called on the EU to enlarge macro-financial assistance to Ukraine and discussed issues related to a donor conference due in April 2015.
