European Parliament president to urge EP to put Donbas self-proclaimed republics on terrorist organizations list – Poroshenko

President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz on Thursday, January 15, will call on the leadership of the European Union to include the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics into the list of terrorist organizations, Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko has said.

"Today I spoke with the president of the European Parliament. Martin Schulz said that on Thursday the European Parliament would call on the EU leadership to include the so-called DPR and LPR into the list of terrorist organizations," the president said in his television address to Ukrainians on Tuesday evening.

According to Poroshenko, "it will be an appropriate international legal assessment of the actions of militants who do not want peace in Donbas, who refuse to fulfill the Minsk agreements, who do not respect the ceasefire, who attack our soldiers and who kill Ukrainian civilians."

"I urge the world to express solidarity with Ukraine. I call on all Ukrainians to be united in the face of the aggression and terrorist attacks. Ukraine is Our Homeland and we will defend it!" the president said.
