Power supply to Crimea partially resumes

Ukraine has partially resumed power supply to Crimea following a sudden power cut, Mikhail Sheremet, first deputy prime minister of Crimea, said.

"We have conducted negotiations. Power supply has now partially resumed. Crimea is receiving some 650 megawatts," Sheremet told reporters.

Sheremet said Ukraine had not said why power supply had been discontinued. "Maybe there was an accident, or some other reasons," he said.

Sheremet also said emergency power sources (mobile diesel and gas-turbine electric power stations) are now working in Crimea. "When the situation fully normalizes, we will switch them off and will return to the normal power supply mode," he said.
