Ukraine should be in European security system - Foreign Ministry

Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Danylo Lubkivsky believes non-bloc status is not a prospect for Ukraine.

"Ukraine cannot afford to become fixated on its own problems and be a non-bloc state. We are such a large European state that we can't afford to be on an island that is separated from the European space," Lubkivsky said at a youth training session entitled "How to Be Ready for International Security Challenges? Making Predictions and Scenarios" held in Kyiv on Friday.

Lubkivsky said in order to determine the prospects of Ukraine's development there is a need to give clear evaluations of current events. He said that "Russia's current authoritarian regime is an enemy of Ukraine, an aggressor, which encourages international terrorism, which is pressuring Ukraine by the military conflict in the east, and this regime has occupied our territories."

"Such clear evaluations will help see our prospects," Lubkivsky said.
