President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Chairman of Moldovan Parliament Igor Corman in the course of today's meeting discussed the situation in eastern Ukraine, cooperation between two countries and the forthcoming parliamentary elections in Moldova.

"The parties have paid special attention to the settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine. Igor Corman has emphasized that Moldova firmly supported Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity and called for the peaceful resolution of the situation in Ukraine. In turn, Petro Poroshenko noted that he was well aware of the circumstances of Transdniestrian conflict and he was doing his best to prevent such a scenario in Ukraine," the press service of Ukrainian president reported.

Poroshenko said about the important role of the interparliamentary cooperation for the enhancement of relations between Ukraine and Moldova. He suggested initiating contacts at the level of friendship groups from the two parliaments.

In addition, the parties discussed the implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU, particularly in terms of harmonizing the legal frameworks of Ukraine and Moldova with the EU requirements.

The president also expressed confidence in a successful holding of parliamentary elections in Moldova on November 30. He is sure that their results will confirm the European choice of Moldovan people. He also reminded that over 80% of Ukrainians had supported pro-European political forces in the parliamentary elections on October 26.

Your result at those elections isn't only your victory. It is also our victory, for the priority of Ukraine and Moldova is the same – the European integration, Chairman of Moldovan Parliament noted.

Moldova needs to stand strong just like Ukraine did, he added.
