Lavrov: There are no Russian troops in eastern Ukraine

There are no Russian troops in eastern Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

Asked by a journalist before a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on the sidelines of an APEC summit on Saturday whether Russia had sent troops to eastern Ukraine, Lavrov said U.S. Department of State Spokesperson Jen Psaki had admitted earlier that Washington had no evidence indicating Russian military presence in Ukraine.

He said also that Russia is not directly involved in the implementation of the ceasefire agreements between the Ukrainian government forces and the militias.

"The ceasefire agreement was signed between the militias and the government, and it's they who should complete the demarcation of a separating line, which is being done right now," he said.
