President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko will engage in telephone consultations with President of the European Council Herman van Rompuy and future European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker concerning gas talks, the presidential press service reported.

According to the report, on Thursday Poroshenko and German Chancellor Angela Merkel by phone discussed the results of tripartite gas consultation between Ukraine-Russia-EU.

"The parties underlined the necessity of achieving conditions for immediate gas supply to Ukraine in winter period and ensuring energy security of Europe," reads a report from the press service.

Leaders of Ukraine and Germany stressed that it was important that all the arrangements in Brussels were coordinated in constant dialogue with the EU.

"Petro Poroshenko informed Angela Merkel that in the given context he would have phone consultations with acting President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy and Jean-Claude Juncker who will start performing the duties of President of the European Commission on November 1," said the report.
