UNESCO confirms Crimea is part of Ukraine – Ukraine's deputy foreign minister

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) confirmed at the meeting of its Executive Board on Thursday that the Autonomous Republic of Crimea is part of Ukraine, Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergiy Kyslytsya reported.

"UNESCO has confirmed that Crimea belongs to Ukraine irrespective of what Russia says and how [it] tries to bluff its way [through the Russian-Ukrainian crisis]," he wrote on Twitter on Thursday evening.

Only three out of the 25 member countries – Russia, Cuba and China – voted against the decision, he said.
