4.6 million people not to be able to vote in Ukraine parliamentary elections – Opora

As many as 4.6 million Ukrainian voters will not be able to vote in snap parliamentary elections due to Russian aggression and military operations in the east of Ukraine, the coordinator of parliamentary election programs at Opora, Olha Aivazovska, has said.

"As many as 4.6 million voters, citizens of Ukraine, will not be able to vote because of Russian aggression and military operations by pro-Russian terrorist groups," she said at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday.

She noted that, according to Opora, all citizens residing in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol - 1.8 million people - would not be able to participate in the vote

Some 49% of voters in Donetsk region (1.6 million citizens) will not participate in the vote, and 69% of voters will not go to the polls in Luhansk region (1.2 million citizens).

Aivazovska also recalled that 20,000 Ukrainian citizens residing in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol had exercised their right to change the place of voting, whereas in Luhansk and Donetsk regions this right had been used by 31,000 voters.

Early parliamentary elections in Ukraine are scheduled for October 26.
